Sampling Cups

A review has been carried out on the use of 30ml and 60ml plastic measuring cups used for dispensing drugs and medicines. Both cups are single use. Currently the Board predominantly use the 60ml cup. The vast majority of medicines can be given using the 30ml cups. With the exception of methadone, most adult syrup solutions would not exceed 30mls.


General Surgery North has been using the 30ml version only for the past 12 months and there have been no reported concerns.


Reducing usage of 60ml and increasing 30ml usage will give the Board an approx £37k per annum saving.


The 60ml cup will be removed from our standard catalogue with effect from 1st September 2017, however the product will still be available to order. If you have a clinical requirement to continue ordering the 60 ml, can you please email:
